Bonus Episode: Full interview with Frank
This bonus episode is the full interview Jesse did with his old friend, Frank. They talked about Frank's experiences of homelessness and mental illness, and his reactions to recent dehumanizing rhetoric from local and national politicians. We previously featured clips from this interview in our 8/27/25 episode.
From Jesse: I've known Frank for over 20 years. His life illustrates a point that Flannery made in our last episode: none of us are actually that far from homelessness ourselves. Frank grew up in a family with economic privilege. But between bad luck - serious mental illness and two parents dead from cancer - and the utter failure of the government to adequately support mental health care services, he ended up living on the street. We can change public policy, but none of us can change our luck. Frank's experiences have taught me a lot about the enormous gap between what is actually needed to support people in crisis and what actually exists (almost nothing).
Thank you Frank for being willing to share your thoughts and experiences!
